Hurrah - a four year residency!

Some of you may remember, back in December, when our family had to run to Tegucigalpa and then to Belize, to straighten out some problems with our residency. I started writing out the story in detail on the blog, and it got so long that I only ended up posting about the first few days of the adventure. (If anyone still cares, let me know, and I'll post the rest of that story - I got distracted at the time because we were moving, and then we lost internet for a bit, etc.)

Anyway, we just got word that our new residency has been approved! It will be good for four years, which is wonderful. Thanks so much, to those of you who pray for us about things like this - we appreciate it!

I know that is one less thing you have to worry about now, at least for 4 more years, LOL.

Praise God that it all worked out.

By 4-year residency, do you mean a "special presence permit"? You have me a little worried since I'm not aware of a residency that is valid for 4 years. Most require annual renewal.

Oh, but I forgot the most important thing which is CONGRATULATIONS for getting your residency, no matter what type it is. I'm sure that is a relief to you.

Just be sure to read the papers carefully so that you understand everything that is required. For example, you'll need to be register with the National Registry (your attorney should do that) and you'll need to apply for your cards with Immigration (within 30 days, I think).

Thanks for the congratulations, friends!

LG - I am probably using the wrong terms here. My husband and the lawyer have a long-term plan, which (if I recall correctly) involves us having the option to upgrade to a better residency after we've completed 4 years with this one. So, it probably isn't a 4-year residency, but that's how long we plan to have it. Or not - who knows what will happen between now and then, you know. ;-D
