Gifts!

We have a guest/helper staying with us right now - I'll talk more about Katie in another post - and she brought some unusual gifts. Some of the items in her bag were things Allen specifically requested, including a few pairs of water shoes (because working in the river is taking a toll on his sneakers), and some small replacement parts for the front end loader.

The other items were things we hadn't specifically requested. They were chosen for us by Katie's mom, who reads my blog. She sent:

several pounds of butter

some bags of bulgar and barley

some boxes of potato dumpling mix and spaetzle mix

a doorknob

Do any of you read the blog carefully enough (and remember well enough) to know why Katie's creative and thoughtful mom sent these particular items?

I know, but I suppose it would be cheating for me to answer! Katie's family is hovering over the computer every chance we get in hopes of a word or picture. Like Boo, Katie is our photographer, so you'll have to tell them to take pictures of each other so we'll both have some!

Yep, that would definitely be cheating . . . but then no one else has even tried to answer. Perhaps this question got buried too fast, in the mad blur of recent postings?

The doorknob is for the bathroom but I'm lost on the bulgar and the butter!! Love and hugs from all of us!

You're right about the doorknob, Beth! I don't know if anyone else will try to guess, so pretty soon I'll share why Denise sent the other stuff.

I guessed that the doorknob is for the bathroom door too!

The food stuff is for Allen he is eating rice while working on the bridge and even though he loves rice he does not want any at home for a while!

Not sure about the butter. Could be that yours is something like Costa Rican butter and more like a margarine.
