That if she lived, she would only be a burden to her family. That there was no guarantee - hard questions, no easy answers.

I'll be thinking much of this little one,her family, and all of those involved in the decision making process.Richelle Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04083189929795613771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8089868875915873819.post-39315100890932611842007-08-15T09:22:00.000-06:002007-08-15T09:22:00.000-06:00Trish, thanks for caring so much about this little...Trish, thanks for caring so much about this little one! I don't know what they will be able to offer to us, but I'm glad for an option to follow, at least!

Blessings,
TrishTrishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00707876118083759696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8089868875915873819.post-62414366580937009642007-08-14T09:19:00.000-06:002007-08-14T09:19:00.000-06:00Trish, I was referred to your blog because my son ...Trish, I was referred to your blog because my son was born with what I believe is the same condition as that little girl, imperforate anus. It is correct that the child needs surgery as soon as possible, but I am mystified as to what this series of 5 operations and months of nursing care back at home could be referring to. I know that wasn't the case for my child, or any others that I have encountered in support groups on the internet for parents of children with this condition.

I would strongly suggest that someone get in touch with the Cincinatti ColoRectal Center as soon as possible to get some advice. They are the world-wide experts in this condition and similar analrectal anomolies. Their doctors travel the world performing surgeries and teaching other doctors how to do the surgeries and the follow up care. Once the surgery is done, the child will likely need assistance with bowel management for the rest of her life, but it is not impossible if they get good medical care. Their website and contact info is here: http://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/svc/alpha/c/colorectal/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
