Sing Praises!

Supporters of Sowers4Pastors are so faithful in praying for the ministry. That’s one reason it’s always exciting to share a list of praises with you. Nothing goes better with rejoicing than music, so gather around. It’s time for some good ol’ praise and worship.

How Great Is Our God

This week, the first post-Covid-19 container of food has arrived! This is a tremendous answer to prayer. As Trish said, the ministry never ran out of food “in spite of the ridiculously increased demand.”

By purchasing a large quantity of additional food locally, Sowers4Pastors was able to supplement its existing food supply. When pastors came to them with requests for help for people in their communities, help was given.

The Solid Rock

The Sowers4Pastors portion of the church project in Quelecasque is almost completed. Russell anticipates needing to go to the site just a few more days to finish the roof. When this project began, no one anticipated the unique challenges that would wreak havoc with the originally scheduled timeframe. Allen and Russell are excited for the congregation at Quelecasque. They are also excited to look at this project through the rear-view mirror! (Warning: Objects in this mirror took MUCH longer to complete than you expected.)

Life Song

Allen is getting ready to fly to the States for the backpack collection trip. This is one more step toward putting backpacks into the hands of children in Honduras.

More people have been signing up to fill backpacks, following a recent blog post, newsletter, and Allen’s video on the subject. Empty backpacks have been sent out to multiple locations.

Do you remember Kristen, who enlisted the help of Facebook friends to fill backpacks? She’s at it again. Yes, her first effort was so successful that she has requested more backpacks for filling. Another sponsor out west has had an anonymous donor make a pledge to match the number of backpacks she fills! Everyone is very excited at these last minute additions to the total backpack tally!

It still looks like there will be around 1500 fewer filled backpacks than last year’s total. Allen and Russell will be driving farther to collect fewer backpacks. This is a good place to stick in a prayer request for health and safety for everyone participating in this venture. Please pray that the trip will take place without complications and that thousands of children will receive educations as a result.

His Eye Is on the Sparrow

Allen, Trish, Russell, and Rachel have each been able to use the new automated system to get their residencies renewed. This is particularly good news for Allen and Russell since it means they should be able to return home from their upcoming backpack collection trip without incident.

Goodness, Love and Mercy

Sowers4Pastors is seeing an uptick in the number of children being sponsored, both through the sister church program and Manna 4 Lempira. This is no small thing.  And, even though some of the U.S. sister churches are unable to hold in-person services, the churches are promoting sponsorships to their congregations. The sponsors are looking beyond their own struggles.

“When the people of God are under hardships themselves, they often draw closer to God,” Trish reflected. “Instead of becoming self-centered, these folks are looking at how difficult others have it. They are being merciful instead of selfish.” That's always a gigantic praise!
