Arachnophobia. I hope you don't have it, because this post involves spiders. Many, many, many spiders.
Boo was wandering about our property, camera in hand, looking for pictures waiting to be taken. She saw what looked like an odd spot of moss, growing on the wall of the bodega:
Upon closer inspection, Boo found that this was a dense mass of spiders, something along the lines of a grand daddy long legs - or rather, a massive and tightly packed gathering of grand daddies!
As Boo stood watching, the spiders untangled themselves and started off, each in their own direction . . .
. . . until eventually, there was nothing left to show that a major grand daddy gathering had taken place on this spot.

This post made my skin crawl! So thanks for that!! But seriously I got my kids to come and look at the pictures and my husband walked up behind and crawled his hands on their backs! They shrieked, it was epic! Happy Valentines Day to you all!
All I can say is...... ewwww, ick..... and I'm so glad YOU live there and not ME!! (Happy Valentine's Day, sis!)
Tell Boo I think she has nerves of steel. If I had found them I would have been sick, then I would have thrown the camera one way while I went the other.
Very cool. Thank you Boo for documenting the gathering and thank you for posting. Off to show my kids. Fauche.
What in the world??? O.K. I did some investigating on this and no one really knows why they do this. Possibilities are: mating, protection from predators, or conservation of body moisture. Whatever the reason, it's really creepy and really cool to see!
All I can say is Wow! God is the most creative Creator ever!! Thanks for the photos Boo!
